Good morning! I’m back from hols, and trying desperately to catch up! I seem to spend my life in a permanent state of catch up… planning is something that happens to other people. Anyway.. this week’s 26 Great Nail Art Ideas prompt is a new one to me, reciprocal gradient. It always looks quite cool when I’ve seen pics on Instagram, but I never really thought I’d be able to do it!
What I used:
(* affiliate links)
- *Color Club Cloud Nine (lilac linear holo)
- CbL True Colors (purple linear holo)
- *Cosmetic Sponges
- Zigzag vinyls from www.she-sells-seashells.co.uk
- *Liquid Latex
- Glisten & Glow topcoat
I started with two coats of Cloud Nine, then once that was dry, I sponged on a gradient of Cloud Nine and True Colors. I added a coat of topcoat, then left it overnight to dry properly. I’ve pulled up too many base coats with vinyls before now to risk not leaving it to dry long enough!
The next morning, I stuck the zigzag vinyls to my nails, and then sponged on another gradient of Cloud Nine and True Colors, making sure that I went the other way round this time. I pulled off the vinyls, cleaned up, and added a final coat of topcoat.
I’m really pleased with how these turned out! I can’t see myself doing this technique too often (leaving to dry overnight is a pain, I like my nail art short and simple these days) but it certainly looked dramatic, especially with the holo flare of the polishes.

See you soon,
