Hello 🙂 Today’s challenge is from the Nail Crazies Unite group, and the prompt is stamping over flakies. I find this a bit of an odd prompt, as usually if I’m using flakies, I want them to be the center of attention, not cover them up with stamping! So, I was looking for a way to combine the two while still showing off the flakes.
What I Used:
(* affiliate links)
- Opulent Essences Rodeo Drive Baby! (bronze metallic with bronze flakies)
- *Sally Hansen Pearly Whites (flakie topper)
- Lacura Mirror Shine 01 Gold (gold stamping polish)
- *Born Pretty Store BP-L003 stamping plate
- *Born Pretty Store clear stamper
- Glisten & Glow topcoat
- *Liquid Latex
I started off with two coats of Rodeo Drive Baby!, which is a gorgeous bronze metallic with small bronze flakies. The flakes didn’t show up enough for me, so I added a coat of Pearly Whites which is a mix of gold, blue & green duochrome flakies in a clear base. It’s pretty thick, so I ended up blobbing it on to get the flakes. I know from previous experience that Pearly Whites can take a while to dry down properly, so I left it overnight (plus I was due to go out!)
The next day, I added the stamping. I picked a pattern that was quite open, but still strong enough to show up, and stamped in gold to complement the base colour. I really like how the flakies peek out around the stamped lines!
I really do like this look – it’s quite elegant and understated for one of my designs!
