Hello! I seem to have a bit of a post backlog, so I’m going to try and get as many out this week as I can. Halloween weekend was a while ago now, but this was the mani I did for the When Colours Collide challenge, which had a Halloween themed colour scheme of orange, purple and black. As I’d already done several Halloween designs, I wanted to do something that could be worn any time of the year, although maybe in different colours!
What I used:
(* Affiliate links)
- *Barry M Cotton (white creme)
- A England The Blessed Damozel (dark purple shimmer)
- A England Crown Of Thistles (purple holo)
- Barry M Tangerine (orange glass fleck)
- *Ciate Hopscotch (orange creme)
- *Born Pretty Store Black stamping polish
- *Barry M Matte topcoat
- Glisten & Glow tocoat
- Sparkly Nails detail brush
I started off with two coats of Cotton, to make a white base so that the colours would pop without having to do lots of layers. I started with the darkest purple, and painted a quarter(ish) of each nail, changing the position and size each time. I then did the same with all the other colours, until there was no white showing.
Once the oranges and purples had dried, I used my detail brush to paint on the black lines, adding the stitch marks to make it look like patchwork. I finished off with a coat of Glisten & Glow to seal it all in. Then I wondered what it would look like matte.. so I added a coat of Barry M Matte topcoat and retook the pics. I can’t decide which I like better, so I’ll leave them both in!
Here’s the challenge collage, if you’d like to try the current challenge, join in the When Colours Collide Facebook group and take part!
See you soon,
