Hello lovely people! Today is the penultimate prompt in the Nail Crazies challenge. And seeing as it’s now October, the prompts seem to have a Halloween theme. The prompt today is sugar skulls, something I’ve never attempted before. Water decals to the rescue!
My sugar skull decals came from a seller called Nailicious UK on eBay, currently priced at £1.35. I received a sheet of 24 skulls, in various different sizes so I could pick the right size for each nail. Although they look ok, they are not printed as crisply as the eBay ad shows!
The base is a random white I picked out of my stash, one I’d never used before. It is White Swan from Annika Nail Colour, which I think I got in a MeeBox ages ago. It took 3 coats to get opaque, which was a little disappointing. Was hoping for 1 or 2 but never mind.
Using the decals was really easy – I just out out each skull, dipped it in water for about 20 seconds, and then slid it off the backing paper onto each nail. Once I’d added the decals, I added random dots of colour around the skulls using a small dotting tool. It was all finished off with a coat of Glisten & Glow topcoat.
Definitely not my normal style, but they did make me smile! Check out the links below to see more sugar skull designs from the rest of the Nail Crazies group.
Until next time,
