Hello again! Today I have the latest When Colours Collide challenge mani to show you, and this week the prompt was gold and grey. Grey again! I still had my pack of nail foils lurking on my nail tray, so I thought I’d play with a different one this time. Not sure I like the outcome quite so much as the previous attempts, but hey, experience is good!
What I used:
* Affiliate links
- *Rimmel Mary Mary Quite Contrary (light grey creme)
- *Rimmel Moon (mid grey creme)
- *Collection Shooting Star (metallic grey)
- Sally Hansen Wedding Glitters (gold shimmer)
- Gold Nail foil
- *cosmetic sponge
- Glisten & Glow topcoat
- Uberchic Ubermat
I wanted the base to be interesting (or at least as interesting as grey gets!) so I used several different greys. I started with two coats of Mary Mary Quite Contrary. I dripped the other polishes onto my mat, then using a torn off bit of sponge dabbed them one at a time onto each nail. It ended up a nice marbled effect, with Wedding Glitters giving a bit of shimmer (totally lost that in the pics, sorry!).
I topcoated everything, then when the topcoat was *almost* dry, rubbed the foil over my nail in the hope that some of it would stick. Possibly I left it a bit too long because I only managed to get small bits to stick. Good enough though! Another coat of topcoat sealed it all in.
Thankfully, the next prompt doesn’t feature grey! Although I’m not sure I will get chance to do any more challenge manis this month, as I’m away on a two week holiday to Lake Garda in a few days. I’m so excited!
I’ll leave you with the challenge collage, so much talent on display there 🙂
See you soon!
