Hi! I’ve been away in (not so) sunny Devon for the past week, mostly devoid of internet and phone signal. While being cut off is kinda relaxing, I’m glad to be back in the world of WiFi again! And of course, being home means I can do my nails again 🙂

Today I have another review for you, this time it is the *Holographic Black Laser Powder from Born Pretty Store. For $0.99 you get 2g of the powder in a small pot, plus a little applicator.
The usage instructions on the Born Pretty website say you need to rub it into a no-wipe gel topcoat. However, I don’t have any no-wipe gels, and the consistency of this is gritty, more like glitter than powder, so I suspected rubbing it in to anything would be futile. I decided to just treat it like any other loose glitter instead.
So, I ended up doing a quick French tip mani.
What I used:
- Bear Pawlish Mickey & Mallory (red linear holo)
- *Born Pretty Store Holographic Black Laser Powder
- HK Girl Glisten & Glow topcoat
I started out with two coats of Mickey & Mallory and let it dry. I then swiped topcoat along the tip of my nail, and started applying the ‘powder’ using the applicator. I soon realised that the applicator was rubbish and didn’t pick up any product, so I ended up dunking the tip of my nail into the pot instead. As you can see from the pics, it acts exactly like glitter and gets everywhere it isn’t supposed to.
I did topcoat over everything, but the glitter still stayed very gritty. If you are not a fan of textured nails, avoid!
