Hello again 🙂 Today I have the latest When Colours Collide challenge mani to show you. This week, the prompt is green and pink, which we had a few months ago, but this time we were allowed to use black and white stamping too. I felt like doing something floral to celebrate the start of spring.
What I used:
- Khroma Float Flottement (pastel green creme)
- NYC High Line Green (green creme)
- NYC Doily On The Grass (teal/green creme)
- Models Own Ebony Green (dark green jelly)
- Models Own Pink Veneer (pastel pink creme)
- Revlon Passionate Pink (hot pink creme)
- Essence Stampy White (white stamping polish)
- Barry M Matte topcoat
- NYC Grand Central Station (clear polish)
- Pueen stamping plate 72
- Sparkly Nails detail brush
- Born Pretty Store clear stamper
- Uberchic Ubermat
I started by making the decals. On my ubermat I painted 10 patches of NYC Grand Central Station, giving each patch 2 coats. Once that was dry, I stamped on the flowers from Pueen 72 using Essence Stampy white. Again, I left it to dry for a while. Finally I painted the flowers with the detail brush, using Passionate Pink and Pink Veneer.
My nails each got two coats of Float Flottement, then left to dry for about 30 mins. I then dry brushed on all the other greens to make an interesting background for the flowers.
Each decal was carefully peeled off the mat, trimmed roughly to size, then applied straight onto the nail. I don’t use glue or damp polish, I find that just a bit of heat from fingertips is enough to make it tacky enough to stick. All the edges were tidyed up with a cleanup brush dipped in acetone, then a coat of HK Girl fixed everything in place. I decided a bit later to make them matte, and I’m glad I did, it makes them much softer and more watercoloury.
It’s not often that I have enough time to do complex nails like this, but I really enjoy it when I do! Love how these came out, it was worth the 3-4 hours 🙂
