Hello my lovelies! Things have been a little quiet here on the blog, because I’m currently away in sunny/rainy Cornwall for two weeks! Seriously, the weather changes hourly, I’ve packed everything from suncream and beach towels to waterproofs and jumpers. On the plus side, the WiFi at our cottage is awesome!
The time has come yet again for the #whencolourscollide challenge, and this time there is a twist – no stamping allowed! Eeeep! 😨 I didn’t have time to do this mani before I left for holiday, so I packed a few bits and hoped for the best. Not ideal, but at least I came up with something!
What I used:
- Rimmel Blackout (black creme)
- Technic Christmas Cracker (red glitter topper)
- Laval Purple Glitter (purple glitter topper)
- Aztec nail vinyls from www.she-sells-seashells.co.uk
- HK Girl Glisten & Glow topcoat
- Make-up sponge
I started with two coats of Blackout on every nail, then left them to dry for an hour or so. Once they were dry, I stuck the nail vinyls on each nail, and dabbed on the glitter using a sponge. I then peeled off the vinyls, and dolloped on a thick coat of topcoat.
These didn’t come out as great as I’d hoped. I’ve discovered that micro fine glitter works much better for this sort of thing rather than the normal glitter I’d used. The shape of the vinyl gets very fuzzy on some nails – my pinkie finger is the clearest shape.
I also think I needed more sponges – I only had a couple with me – and they got pretty saturated with base polish, making them less effective at sponging on glitter as I progressed.
Ah well, never mind! The next colour theme has already been announced – pink and green. Green again! At least I can stamp this time 🙂 If you’d like to take part, head over to Facebook and request to join the When Colours Collide group.
See you soon!
