Hello! Today I have my second entry into the #whencolourscollide challenge – a bi-weekly challenge where you have to create a mani just using the two or three colours given. This time the colours were purple and pink, and although I love both colours, I couldn’t come up with a mani that I loved. I’m planning a post with the rejects, but today here is my entry!
What I used:
Rimmel Ring A Ring O’Roses (pastel pink creme)
Revlon Passionate Pink (hot pink creme)
Lilypad Lacquer Parma Violet (purple holo)
NYC Grand Central Station (clear)
HK Girl Glisten & Glow (topcoat)
Bundle Monster and @sloteasy collab plate
I started by stamping the water marble pattern onto my Ubermat, which I had already covered with clear polish. The pattern is stamped using Parma Violet, which isnt an ideal stamping polish but it did the job. I then filled in parts of the pattern using Passionate Pink. Another coat of clear polish to seal, then I left them to dry out for a couple of hours.
Once they had dried, I carefully peeled the decals off the mat and cut into nail sized pieces. I painted all my nails with two coats of Ring A Ring O’Roses, and while it was still tacky, applied the decals. I trimmed them to fit, then cleaned up the edges with acetone. Finally I topcoated, and managed to smear the stamping a bit. *sighs*
Like I said, I’m not in love with these. I couldn’t get the decal completely flat at the tip of my nail, so the edge looks bumpy. I wish I hadn’t used Passionate Pink, it doesn’t really work with the other two colours. And I’m not sure about mixing holo & plain creme.
Anyway, there we go. The collage has all 91 entries, and looks amazing! If you’d like to join in, search for the ‘When Colours Collide’ group on Facebook and become a member. You can also see lots of solo shots on Instagram, search for #whencolourscollide.
See you soon!
