#clairestelle8jan Challenge – Clocks

Hello! Another installment in the Instagram #clairestelle8jan challenge today, and the prompt is clocks. I now have well over 150 stamping plates (me? obsessive?) and not one image of a clock face. I really, really didn’t want to freehand anything, so I had to get creative. And then I thought “dandelion clocks!” Luckily I did have a plate for that, and so here are my dandelion clock nails.

Polishes used:

Nails Inc The Tide Is High
Revlon Coastal Surf
NYC High Line Green
Bonita Dali’s Memory
Rimmel Peppermint
Essence Let Stars Rain Down On Me (holo microglitter topper)
MoYou London White Knight (stamping polish)
INM Out The Door (topcoat)

Because the stamping image was quite simple, I wanted to have an interesting but not overpowering background. I started with two coats of The Tide Is High and let it dry completely. I then used the dry brush technique to add all of the other polishes (all shades of blue/green) and built up the distressed look. The colours are all quite close together so it wasn’t too distracting.

I added a coat of Let The Stars Rain Down on Me which is a very fine holo glitter – so fine that you can barely see it so that was a waste of time! Then I stamped the dandelion image using MoYou London Pro plate 04 and White Knight.

I am really happy with how these turned out! I love the dry brush technique – I have never tried it before but I definitely will do it again! The topcoat softened all the polishes together and it ended up looking like a watercolour. I am trying to push myself into using new techniques more often, I’m lucky this one worked first time though!

See you soon,
Love,
Jo x
